Oscars 2013...My favorite screen sirens from last night

I died and was in Couture heaven last night watching the Red Carpet arrivals. There were a lot of stunning gowns, but a few obviously stood out to me the most and my favorites were..

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture, of course my favorite fashion house won me over the most! Her gown, from the back in particularly, was the epitome of romantic elegance, two shades of pale pink, and, in true Dior style, reminiscent of a beautiful flower.

Jessica Chastain in copper pink Armani Privé, she is such a beauty anyway and looked utter perfection last night in a classic Old Hollywood style. Her hair, skin and dress all, almost blended into one beautiful hue!

Amy Adam's dreamy dove grey Oscar de la Renta made me feel like I was watching the princess from a Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, so stunning!

Those were my three favorite, but I also loved Anne Hathaway in her pale pink Prada, the high neck instantly reminded me of the dress Edith Head designed for Grace Kelly to wear when she won her Oscar in 1955.
Jennifer Aniston's red Valentino was gorgeous and gave her a beautiful shape and Olivia Munn's Marchesa dress had a very regal feel from Queen Elizabeth I era, loved that!

When I saw Anne Hathaway's pastel pink Prada, the high neck and simplicity of it instantly made me think of Edith Head's dress for Grace Kelly for her Oscar win in 1955.

Olivia Munn in Marchesa
Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen

Alicia Vikander

Naomi Watts in Giorgio Armani

Stacey Keibler in Naeem Khan

Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton

Cole Haan

"The bombshell hair and classic makeup harken back to 40s style. Combined with the the well-tailored, mixed black and white patterns, long trouser break, and bright pop of red from the handbag, the old glamour approach feels modern. The result is a style that will stand the test of time."
- Cole Haan

Nice Quote! Thanks ;-)

Whilst on my way to the studio last week, I got stopped by a lovely lady from Cole Haan, who asked to take my picture for the Cole Haan Blog, which then turned into an interview as well, check the feature here:

Look Book: Cobbled Streets and Mink.

For an afternoon in on December spent in Sussex (Lewes) picking up antiques to fill my already bulging second suitcase, (I'm like a blood fiend I tell you!) I wore a Vintage Mink hat, held in place with Vintage hat pins (courtesy of my late grandmother), a faux fur jacket, Vintage purse, Prada sunglasses, Zara long leather gloves, a black dress designed by yours truly for my Alured De Valer line and of course some antique pearls in my ears!

Look Book: Tippi Hedren ala The Birds.

On the day Konna and I went to feed the birds, I felt like my outfit couldn't have been more fitting.... These little birds (and ducks!) were super tame (or maybe just really hungry?), and surrounded me in the perfect Hitchcock moment.. I was in my element and felt like I was - one of my favorite icon's - Tippi Hedren, shooting a scene from The Birds. Minus the attack.
Wearing Vintage brown Muff, check coat, Dior anniversary cage shoes in pink and black roll-neck sweater from Primark!

Look Book: A Garden and a Scone.

Cream Tea at the Garden Centre, somewhere outside of Ditchling, I felt like doing full 50's today. Dress and coat, designed by me (made by Mom as usual!) were inspired by circa 1953. I like the mix of the pastels with the black and white and the two different checks, (note the back of the coat, where the checks match up perfectly! - my mother really is a mastery dressmaker). Vintage pearls, Vintage grey gloves, Vintage purse, and the shoes I found at Primark the day before for the bargain price of $10!!
My Mom then took me to a delightful place in a random industrial estate area that goes by the name of Mabel's Magnificent Emporium!. Filled with a myriad of vintage knick knacks and a cute Tea Shop, which of course we stopped to indulge in!

Happy 'belated' New Year!

So after a small leave of absence I'm back with a belated Happy New Year!
I flew last minute to the motherland to spend the holidays with my parents, to which everything just completely caught up on me whilst trying to juggle my many projects... I'm like a bloody one-man-band over here guys!
3 whole weeks I had, to roam on English soil. I spent the first week at my boy Konna's apt in London, which he boldly proclaimed is now my 'London pad'! Sweet! Can I now have some keys too?!
My first day in London, I of course hit up my old favorite spots, to set the tone, I was wearing my cream Cerutti 1881 pencil skirt, pastel blue vintage angora sweater, and from my own design collection a white bustier and pink/grey 50's inspired swing coat. Pink Dior anniversary cage shoes, Dior sunglasses, pink leather gloves and a nude quilted purse.

Konna and I are in Harrods, mentally buying up the entire store. I realize with all my excitement of being here I hadn't even had a cup of tea yet so I suggest we go Laduree' which I love, Konna on the other hand didn't, and refused to pay the somewhat $8 they were charging for a cup of tea. Saying it was overpriced an under-atmospheric in there! I threw a mini stop (Konna did capture the look on my face when he told me with his Samsung -what no iphone?!- but that will forever remain for him and I to laugh at!) stormed outside in a dramatic movie scene exit. My swing coat swishing behind me beautifully, while Konna is calling name behind me!
We did end up having quite a nice coffee at Harvey Nichols, but it just didn't match my ensemble well!
The evening was spent catching up with my good old friend Barney, to which things begin to get hazy in an old pub with wine. Konna comes to get me and we somehow (still remains a mystery to me!) make it back.
Even though it rained the entire time, now there's a surprise! it didn't stop me, or my fashion, from spending the next few days shopping, seeing friends and feeding the birds at Battersea Park (apparently Konna is a regular!)

It was Christmas Eve, I was back with my parents and we are in my beloved town of Lewes, which is like a 'Misfit historical dream' full of antique stores and, to die for, architecture! while my dad is picking up last minute food in Waitrose (I don't where they are keeping this said food, the fridge at home could already barely close!) I couldn't resist a little antique shopping, picked up some fine bone china teacups- you know me and my teacups!
The days that passed over christmas were a blur of food and Downton Abbey.
I broke my Veganism by eating some real mature English Cheddar at any moment possible, ahh there is no better taste than that!.... I guess once a year wont kill me, I could have a worse poison!

New Years Eve was spent with my girl Law, we saw it in, in a pretty civilized and grown up way at The Shorditch House. I had been making my outfit up until the 11th hour, it was a mad rush, but my teal blue fur, white bustier, and pink/grey check pencil skirt were a success! After Shorditch House I hit up my boys place The Drunken Money to spend the rest of the evening hanging with my 'old London buddies' to which it was so nuts seeing so many old faces!

It was a bitter sweet farewell when I left, I had gotten used to my morning Tea's with my parents, being around my old friends, and breathing in the fresh country air. On the other hand though, I was itching to get back to my house, and back to work on my projects that I'm so eager to unleash to you all. Which its what one has been doing since being back, hence the delay in this post! (oops sorry!)

Here's to Two Thousand and Thirteen!
