Look Book: Naughty Secretary

Yesterday I felt father like a 1950's naughty secretary in my vintage and custom made mix.
I had seen a picture of Marilyn Monroe in a recent book on her fashion wearing a pair of cute cat's eye glasses, I thought she looked adorable and sought out to get a pair for myself!
I found these vintage ones on eBay, a favorite place of mine to pick up vintage hats too.
Also from eBay was the vintage angora sweater I was wearing. My cream pencil skirt was in fact a pair of Cerruti 1881 pants that I bought when I was a young teen which my mother and I reconstructed in to the pencil skirt, much more wearable as they were an awful fit as pants!
My jacket: DVF, Purse: Dior and Shoes: YSL.

Williamsburg.

When one wakes up to find its 70 degrees outside in October, the day must be spent outside!
I met up with my girl Jodie and we wondered, gossiping, to Mogador on Whythe for brunch, then proceeded to spend the rest of the day exploring our hood. Considering I've lived in Williamsburg almost a decade there is still a lot I have yet to discover, or maybe it is because there is something new popping up every week.
The food fair was still on by The Edge, however I was still too stuffed from brunch, besides I prefer it on sundays when it is a flea market. As we wondered up Kent we stumbled upon a garden centre - who knew you could stock up on your plants on Kent?! It was like a mini oasis in the middle of the 'Burg. One minute we are in Brooklyn, the next we've stepped into an enchanted garden playing old vocal House music which took me back to Ibiza, so I had to sit on one of garden chairs for a minute and 'have a moment'.
From there we were transported to Italy by way of a new restaurant that has just opened on North 6th and Kent called Fabbrica, which is Italian for Factory - paying homage to Williamsburg's industrial history. This spot might be my new favorite, I actually felt like I was in Italy, the coffee was amazing and as much as I'm not a huge cake person, I just love to look! I told Jodie "If you are ever looking for me, you'll probably find me in here"!
We then headed to The Whythe Hotel for some roof top drinks, followed by a stroll down Bedford to the Oyster Bar before parting ways for an hour to freshen up, in which time Natalia made it over and we headed back out, this time to Aura for dinner.

I guess thats what you call a full day of restaurant/cafe/bar hopping. Gotta love my hood!

Fall thinking...

As the season changes, I thought what more perfect a time than to relaunch the blog that I had so naughtily neglected. Love Fall fashion, maybe not quite as much as I love Summer fashion, but at least with Fall one can throw on a 'bar' jacket and not sweat!
I get bored really easily with looks (thank god I don't have to wear a uniform!) I can't even do my hair the same way for more than a few days. So, my style changes a lot and I'm often bringing together my passion for history, in the form of fashion, channeling one of my many favorite periods and icons.
Queen Elizabeth 1st is usually a winter favorite as all those layers and weighty fabrics are enough to keep me warm and Regal feeling.

The New Look from 1947, thanks to Mr. Dior himself however has always been a staple look within my style, though this season I'm also feeling in the mood for the swingings sixties. Large hats perched on the back of my head, over sized dress coats on top of a waist clenching pencil dress..yes!
Of course one is also never without gloves!..

Here I am in Union Sq, NYC on one of those perfect sunny Fall days...
